The Walton Family Foundation is, at its core, a family-led foundation. The children and grandchildren of our founders, Sam and Helen Walton, lead the foundation and create access to opportunity for people and communities. We believe the best ideas can come from anywhere, so we stay open to new thinking from all over. And we partner with those who are closest to the problem because they’re usually closest to the solution.
We work in three areas: improving K-12 education, protecting rivers and oceans and the communities they support, and investing in our home region of Northwest Arkansas and the Arkansas-Mississippi Delta.
As we focus on making an impact that improves lives today, we also want to ensure that it lasts to benefit future generations. That’s why we are committed to the issues we work on for the long term, and why we’re constantly evaluating our efforts to make sure our solutions are effective and lasting.
We are a family-led foundation that tackles tough social and environmental problems with urgency and a long-term approach to create access to opportunity for people and communities.
To live in a world where people can accomplish anything when they have opportunity and encouragement
