Performing Arts Take Center Stage in Northwest Arkansas with TheatreSquared

May 29, 2015
Strengthening and expanding artistic programs in the Ozarks

TheatreSquared is the only professional theatre in northwest Arkansas entertaining almost 30,000 people annually. Career artists – actors, directors, dancers, etc. – come from all over the nation to perform in this relatively young, yet prestigious theatre, which is in residence at the quaint 175-seat Nadine Baum Studio at the Walton Arts Center.

In November, 2014, TheatreSquared unveiled its three-year strategic plan, which establishes priorities for growth through 2017. The initiatives include expanded artistic programs, broader access to all segments of northwest Arkansas and a more prominent national role for the theater.

In support of that vision, the Walton Family Foundation’s Home Region awarded TheatreSquared a three-year, $1.03 million grant to help attract seasoned professional actors and contract artists, improve production equipment and sets, and promote productions to the people of the region. The theatre’s goal is aligned with the Foundation’s initiative to strengthen and expand arts and cultural programming in northwest Arkansas.

TheatreSquared is well on its way to becoming a cultural anchor of northwest Arkansas by 2020. In fact, just in the last five years the theatre has increased its annual attendance ten-fold and watched its annual budget grow from $170,000 to more than $1 million.

Whether it be Broadway shows, dramatic monologues or powerfully performed ballets – TheatreSquared is creating art of uncompromising quality for audiences of all backgrounds and worthy of standing ovations and encores.
